En-route to L.A for the Santa Robada music video screening at Filmapalooza and a couple shows with fellow songwriter/guitarist Alex Maryol. Just got the videos of our impromptu nature session in the Albuquerque Bosque a few weeks back with Alex and vocalist Leah Black. It’s a little windy and such, but I love the honesty of playing music outside by the river and bosque… hope you enjoy.

Well we didn’t make the cut as a finalist this year, but still excited to have been a semi-finalist for the song Whale Bones and Toes. Thank you International Songwriting Competition for shedding light on all the great music out there.. and congrats to all of the finalists!

Headed to Hollywood CA next week for the screening of the award winning Cali Shaw video Santa Robada at the 2013 48HFP Filmapalooza 2013! Alex Maryol and Cali Shaw will also be performing a couple of shows with some great local LA songwriters. Please spread the word to anyone in the LA area. Performances are March 10th and 11th at TRiP in Santa Monica and Genghis Cohen in Hollywood respectively. ..

Here checking out the scene and playing a couple shows in Austin TX with Alex Maryol. The city is great for music and looking forward to returning soon. We received some awesome news this morning. The song Whale Bones & Toes has been selected out of 20,000 plus submissions as a semi-finalist in the International Song Writing Competition in the Adult Album Alternative and Unsigned categories.

Cali Shaw Band took off a few weeks during the holidays and are excited to get back to performing live shows in 2013!
We will resume our regular residence at Scalo Il Bar in Nob Hill every Wednesday starting Jan. 16th.
We have a few new songs in our arsenal and are excited to share them with you.

Aside from our regular Acoustic Showcase at Scalo we have some super fun shows at other venues and other states in the next few weeks as well!
Most exciting is Cali Shaw and Alex Maryol will be joining singer-songwriter Ben Balmer and bassist Josh Flowers for a few gigs in Austin TX during the second weekend of February.
We will also be headed to Hollywood for the screening of our 1st place winning music video “Santa Robada” at the 2013 filmapalooza
Our video will be screened Friday March 8th at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater Complex

Finishing the album has opened up some free time for me to start writing again. I debuted my new song under the olive tree last night at Scalo, and have several more new originals that I am working on.

Cali Shaw writes new folk music, murder ballads, shanties, and songs. Accompanied by the wonderful Lisa Donald on cello, Amanda Grant backing vocals, Danny Spanogle on upright bass, Noah Wolters on Fender Rhodes, multi-instrumentalist Todd Eric Lovato, and rotating drummers Josh English, Erik Sawyer and Richard Compton; Cali Shaw performs at many local watering holes throughout the state of New Mexico. Cali Shaw is currently in the studio working on a full length solo album due out summer 2012 under Penguino Records.
